Walking the Via Francigena in Tuscany
The Francigena route is an historic path which started from England to Rome, and from Roma to Jerusalem and was followed by pilgrims to reach by foot the Pope in Rome.
After the advent of cars and modern way of transport this ancient and fascinating way of traveling has disappeared.
Instead of the beautiful path in the middle of the country side are born miles and miles of modern street.
But since the ’90s, with the rebirth of the “cammino de Santiago “in Spain, also the via Francigena , is coming back at its origin.
Near us the Via Francigena has part of its route.
From Siena to San Quirico, one of the best part of Val d’Orcia and South of Tuscany , there is a new kind of tourism which follow the via Francigena.
This is part of our society, we have everything we want, all the material things can be buy, but what we cannot buy is the Happiness and this is what people are looking for.
This is one of the reason why people practice the via Francigena, walking for miles and miles, sleeping in convent, meet other people on your way, looking for an authentic contact with nature.
No cell phone, no car, only you , the nature and your spirituality.
If you want to experience just for a weekend or more days you can plan your route visiting the websitehttp://www.regione.toscana.it/via-francigena.
