The secret of Montepulciano
Montepulciano in the last years has become more and more popular and it is today and attractive touristic choise for thousand of visitorts coming from all over the world. Montepulciano is famous for its art, architecture, the elegant reinassance palace wich are the symbol of an important past under the Medici family .
Montepulciano is famous for its red wine wich is today a strong attraction, but Montepulciano offers more. The origine of the town go back since the Etruscan population. Under the street level there are tunnels, cave , wales and Etruscan tumbs.
Built at the time of the Etruscan as tumbs where used during the following centuries as cellars and as a sophisticated aquedut.
Today most o f them are still belong by private families but some of them have been restored and open at the visitors. Walk in those tunnels immediately bring you in another time and are so magnificient that is not possible to admire what thousand of years ago has been done and it is such a privilege that are survived at the years and are visible.
I suggest to spent more time when you came to visit Montepulciano, take a stop to “La città sotterranea” and to Cantina del Redi wich is really a monument 5 metres under the streel level
